Haiku for One Single Impression

**

moving wings
treading summer air
hummingbird

**

newly seen Lulin
retrogrades across the sky
comet swooping close

**

waves escape
from blacktop highways
disappear

**

Movement is the Monday prompt offered by One Single Impression.

Hummingbirds wings move so fast, I have only seem them in pictures.

The only thing slow about a comet is its tail .. and even that disappears fast ---.

I used to love seeing these waves when I was a kid riding on the back of the truck.

I really enjoyed these reflective movements.

I wish I was treading summer air, I really like that line!
How did I not hear about the comet? I had to look it up.
The third one reminds me of summer days in Oklahoma.

funny I did not think of "heat waves" at first escaping from the road - you are so scientific that I thought these were de Broglie matter waves - the same kind that allow me to believe that there is at least part of the local zoo elephant in my china cabinet at any given moment !!!

Hi Tumblewords--
These 3 all made me smile--you are such a master with the haiku!

Thanks for your consistency!

I loved 'treading summer air'. I wish I were doing that very thing right about now!

Oh my - three absolute beatuies!! And all subjects I'm fond of. "Treading" is such a great eye-catching verb choice. Also, I've been looking for something online that gives better info on viewing Lulin, if you know of anything I'd sure appreciate a link! And finally, heat mirages - I wonder every time I see them how many people really appreciate the magic. You obviously do - wonderful post!

Hi Sue -- I surely hope that you do get to see Lulin. Or have you already? I hope to, thank you for tipping us off. I got ready last week.
I like your idea of the 'wings treading ... air.' I would never have thought of that.

This is lovely..I wish we had humming birds here! We laugh and point at the Hawaiian hummingbird moth that behaves nearly the same. Your words are perfect-

How hard those hummingbirds work to stay aloft. They are amazing creatures. It's interesting to focus on their movent, the distant movement of Lulin, and the languid, intense movement of that heat.

Sue, all of these are pretty much brilliant in word choice, images and perspective. I tip my hat to you.

Awesome shot of the hummingbird, Sue. And your first haiku about the hummingbird is my favorite one, especially:

'treading summer air'
