ABC Wednesday T

Tarradiddle:  falsehood, nonsense, fib

There's something about this word that makes me giggle even as I watch the taradiddling that spins itself out on he said, she said TV. It fits so many people and there's no doubt I could be called on it, too, as I fudge, fib or tell a little nonsense if I think it does more good than harm. But I've also reached that age where nobody trusts me to remember, or tell, the truth anyway.

Are you a taradiddler?

And this image has nothing to do with taradiddle, at all. Toward the heart of a brand new Asiatic Lilly, lush red. Although it might not be here. Images have been iffy as has the follow/follwers widget. Tarradiddling?

Saburration: application of hot sand as medical treatment

This word's meaning has me imagining super things. Suppose I could write my own prescription for a quiet and calming ocean beach under a bright warm sun where, shielded by a large umbrella, I could read, nap and drink sangria or something similar. I think that sounds like the perfect medical treatment for the sanity I seem to have lost during the long winter snow.

Does saburration seem like a sure cure for something?

Haiku for Magpie Tales

Tess Kincaid at Magpie Tales offers an enigmatic image each week for a prompt bound to draw words from writers. This is #67, Banquet Scene with a Lute Player by Nicolas Tournier, 1625.

R for ABC Wednesday

Retromancy is divination by looking over one's shoulder.

Is this like reading life in a rear view mirror where you review regret or warnings in time to avoid them?

Or could you see what you're going to do? I've been trying to decide whether to write another book, paint a large painting or take a nap. After all, it IS still raining here and it's cold, to boot.

Using retromancy, maybe I could see what I was going to do and remove some of the hardcore stress of decision making.

At any rate, I find this concept rather rattling.

What's your take on retromancy?

Too big to fail?

Are we too big to fail? A bit of tongue-in-cheek in light of recent days:

virtual shouting

spotted on the me channels

halts ingress/egress

twit*er, blog*ger and face*ook

black holes scoop up the landlocked

Quintessential Spring

Cold winds that drove rain, snow, sleet and hail have kept spring at bay. Tiny leaves and winter's residue  announce the spring which was scheduled to arrive about the same time as usual, give or take a day or two, but hasn't arrived in its full-blown state yet.

When the sun shimmers in a blue sky and the nights release their hold on frost, these bitty leaves will stretch and reach before branches sport small white blossoms and produce the sweetest of raspberries.

I am waiting - indoors with shoes, socks, fleece and hoodies. Has your newest season arrived on time?

Poem for Big Tent Poetry

The prompt is to write a revision of an older poem.

Friday

stews of gas and glitter
spilling from its pinch
a long-tailed dipper
ladles down the double dark

Orion shoots a maze
straight from the sword
while Seven Sisters traverse
the telltale Friday sky

at the local saloon
full of clatter and glass
a seedy midlife male
hunts a weekend girl

Photos, Programs, Paintings and Post-Processing

This tiny free program    http://sourceforge.net/projects/ascgen2/  produces a photo in text plus it permits a choice of font and letters. Experiments create a plethora of style and color with your favorite font. Some photos translate better than others and it's always fun to see what transpires.

It works very well with faces, but I thought I'd try this particular piece which is the text version of the watercolor painting header. I used the default parameters.

Isn't this a perfect touch of magic?
