Sunday Scribblings prompts: ...For some, the word poetry conjures up terror; other people's mouths begin to water in anticipation. Very few people feel nothing about it. Either way, your assignment this week is to write some - whether you like it or not!
One Long Trill
Mystic strands
a little scat,
baby blues
one long trill.
Jazz tunes my soul
by sensual plums
like a master lover
might bestow.
By a warm thrum
of rhyming fingers
awash in joyful tears
when happiness
is a little jazz,
a little scat,
and one long trill.

ThomG, moderator of 3WordWednesday offers the following words for prompt: Fracture, Noise, Vanish
night fracture
noise pounds window panes
vanishes
lightning vanishes
thunder drumrolls noise
fractures calm
his wish fractures
vanishes with the noise
her wedding bells

Handful of Summer
yesterday I stood
ankle deep in summer
today rain pulls heat
from beneath my feet
sand drawn out by tides
or a rug picked up by fate
fall stalks dying bushes
winged gleaners gather seeds
grasping summer in my hand
I hold my breath

ABC Wednesday, Round 5, offers E for this week's prompt! Thank you!
I read of all the exotic places photographed and posted on ABC Wednesday and yearn for travel edgy with adventure.
Egads! My reality shows that today's excitement comes from homespun fun and a sun-warmed tomato. Two months or 60 days have elapsed since my top down tomatoes were first exposed and here are the UN-embellished results -
The first two yellow pear toms I ate were exquisite.
I'm confined to home now as I expect the next ripenings!

DOOR
Screen doors never crossed my threshold of like - oh sure, they sometimes kept insects at bay and generally cats and birds didn't make their way inside. But the doors did bang shut to bruise an elbow and catch many a heel with the slam-bang closer while the screens invariably attracted pushy hands which refused to use the handle.
I invented my own. And I love it.
I've used this method for a baker's dozen of years.
A sheer curtain hangs in the door jamb by a tension rod to allow the view, light and fresh air through the entry while deterring bugs, birds and stray cats. It moves a bit in the breeze. Too much? A length of chain in the bottom hem keeps it more stable. It's easy to put up and remove (night and morning), washable and silent while at the same time it fascinates children and tickles old friends.
When not in use, the ends of the tension rod slip through small brass rings attached to the inside wall behind the house door and my screen door pretends to be a floor to ceiling painting which can be changed for a couple of bucks.
Did I mention that I love it? It is one of my favorite home decorating thingies.

My poetry books North of Summer and South of Winter are currently available at Amazon and, as always, available from my LuluBookstore in print or as download.
These remind me of a strange candy (from childhood) which claimed the name of Chicken Bones.
These are actually pine cones which have been rendered nude to the cob by squirrels. Piles of pine cone 'petals', picked clean of nuts and edible portions, surround these cone cobs.
Now I'm off to see the really interesting C's of this worldwide blogging meme participants!
