Chains of Taproot

drawn from left hand sea
to flatland grain
by the glow of November's
Mourning Moon

vigilant for clues
I cross the country
my parents' path

pick missing stitches
see life unravel
begin at the start
feel the web
that fetched them here
rephrase the forms
I didn't think to pose

Deeply beautiful. I thing you sound blessed to have had, if I am to understand your poem correctly, parents who gave you deep roots to tap off. Thank you for sharing your talent.

I see this poem set in the Irish Country side or some other ancient land where I imagine you walking.

Is this poem about carrying on tradition? It is beautiful but I'm afraid I'm not too good at deciphering. :)

Incredibly beautiful and poignant poem about discovering generational bonds. The painting is lovely as well. We are all part of a larger continuous mosaic.

Oh, yes, this made me think. It's the kind of poem that demands rereading and it releases it's wisdom in small appetisers that just demand I eat more! Excellent! ~Linda

Thoughtful poem. I like the idea of retracing your parents' life travels. Is the left hand sea then the Pacific?

Oh yes there's a reason for everything, why we are the way we are, and our forefathers, society plays such an important part in this...and to understand it takes courage, lots of it and results in strength. Thank you, I really enjoyed this.
