Scribbling Job

This job might be my best one. Thinking...

I own my time, my chair, my computer and my own clutter but being the boss without employees produces a series of serious downfalls.

For example, when the weather is -20 and the milk carton runs dry, I must take the frigid trek. Hmm. In my other life, I did that, too. Come to think of it...

When my coffee mug is empty, I must push the button that refills it with my choice of flavor. Come to think of it...

When the office needs cleaned, it's always my turn. Come to think of it...

My income is scattered, miniscule and most times has gone missing entirely. Come to think of it...

I am my own cheerleader. Come to think of it...

With the exception of a twice-weekly yoga class and several monthly painting or writing meetings, I rarely see bodies other than family. Come to think of it...

This may well be the best job. Come to think of it...

Sounds like my dream job. Wise choice, selecting happiness over monetary reward. From my experience, thinking is seldom valued in the workplace. People are too busy networking, scoring brownie points and getting noticed to ever be very good at doing their jobs.

Spectacular! So many plusses and minuses no matter where we are, huh? Finding happiness and fulfillment is where it's at though!

Indeed, I think you do have the best job. But I'd switch to black coffee before making the trek in that weather to get milk. And dry cereal tastes just fine to me.

I have that job as well, and it is the best job.

Funny how we have to work at many not the best jobs before we're ready for it.

Who knows you better than you? There are no conflicts of opinion, no fights over coffee flavors, etc. :)

How wise your perception in realizing that you make your own happiness and satisfaction. You have your dream job because you take responsibility to make it work. It sounds like you have always been a "take responsibility" person. Thus you create your own success and are able to successfully be your own boss.
Nice post.
Thanks for your visits to and comments on my blog as well.
