Writing at Sunday Scribblings

Reading, writing, listening and art are so closely related it's hard for me to delineate where one starts and another leaves off. Oftentimes, I stop one process to begin another.

It surprises me to write something and, before the day is out, find that whatever 'original' thought or word I wrote turns up in a similar context by another writer. Or colors I choose for fractals or watercolors are those I see during the day.

Today, by accident and good fortune, I discovered the writings of Wendy Videlock. After reading as much of her internet poetry as I could find, I listened to several podcasts which included her work. In fact, I listened to one particular poem non-stop for an hour. Her style is different than any I've heard recently.

By then, my mind was reeling and the need to write overwhelmed me but nothing I wrote is earthshaking or even mediocre. But I haven't given up. I'll read, listen, write and paint/design again. Each action is inseparable as well as a learning process.

Thank you for sharing the Sunday Scribblings!

Firstly I love the painting -- what talents you have! Though I relate to the sentiments here, I can't imagine you writing something mediocre. Your

pigment's no trade
for pitch-dark nights
partial days

is with me still!

I have never heard of Wendy! Off to find out about her now!
I am always stirred by your writing and it's interesting how writing initiates or continues the creative process for you! You have more than one way to express yourself!

I love those little synchronicities when I find another writer has used a variation on an image, or a word that had captured my attention also. My doubting self wonders have I inadvertently picked it up somewhere in the past, but my trusting self believes it just shows that we are both in tune with the same energies at play in the world, and that feels good.

And on mediocity: It's not to be sneezed at. Van Gogh pointed out that it takes a lot of hard work and practice to become even a mediocre painter. I figure if he thought it was worth the effort, I might as well keep trying too!

I am always interested in the creative processes of others. They are so different from mine.

I do agree with you. As it is, poetry is written in so many ways that sometimes the word looks almost the same. In this case, I guess it's what it actually means that really makes the difference.

You are very talented with your writings and art pieces. Wish I had these kind of talents too. :)

I love your writing. It is full of feelings, conveyed like a verbal painting. Magical and earthy at the same time.
And yes, painting often inspires me to write, or writing to paint.

We certainly are all connected, aren't we. So true that our creative as well as normal actions become inseparable at some point. Thanks so much for visiting my site and for your kind words. I'll look forward to reading more of your Scribblings.

Your soul is that of a writer, it hears, smells, taste, feels, sees the words. As you said they are woven together.

Much as you absorbed a poet's words, we absorb your beautiful artwork...both your art and your haiku as inspiring...so you're keeping the energy flowing.

thanks for visiting me!
