Wrinkles

For Heads or Tails prompt: Wonder or Wander. This piece could probably be considered for either.

**

I wish them gone
and yet they stay
to remind me of
those other days

lines deep upon
my face
stitch my skin
as if to sew
memories
firmly to my soul.

If I erased them
from my face
would other memories
take their place?

Wrinkles and stretch marks both show that we have lived.

Boy, oh boy, have I lived!!!

I'm happy to have my wrinkles -- and how you've described them? Makes me feel good about them. No plastic surgery or botox for me thank you!!!

I love the way you wrote this - Nope, I wouldn't erase any memories - not even the bad ones, because they help make me what I am.

I'm with Skittles on this one. Wrinkles and stretch marks are signs of living...I may not have the wrinkles yet, but my two kids have given me stretch marks. I've lived! LOL!

There's something very fluent about your structure that I like.

This is really cool! I love your take on the theme! I too, agree that bad/good memories make you what you are!

sew memories firmly to my soul: what great words but we rarely want to keep those lines.

Lovely twist on something I've always seen as undesirable. For the first time this passt year I looked in the mirror and realized that those crinkly lines on my forehead were permant! Thank you for such a lovely thought this morning. :)

I've been blessed by not too many of those so far, but his speaks to me - mostly of my Grandma and my mother. Thank you, it is so well said.

What an interesting viewpoint of wrinkles.

Nothing's wrong with them in my eyes, yet, everyone seems to want to get rid of them.

If they disappeared, you would not be as beautiful as you are now. Neither would any of us. The poem is so lovely, so wistful. My HoT is here. Thank you.

That second stanza is terrific! All of it, but especially. It describes me, too.

Would we really choose to have other memories??
Although I've made some bad choices, that have lead to bad memories, thanks be to God that He has worked them all out. So I guess I'll stick with the memories I have. :)

"Every lesson learned, a line upon your beautiful face." The Indigo Girls

That was a very moving piece of poetry. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Your art is incredible.

Such a beautiful piece. I adore my wrinkles for the very memories that created them.

Great post.

Like what your wrote. I am not afraid of my wrinkles but at the same time I am very diligent with the cream to keep them at bay as long as possible. I would never have a face lift though

I really enjoyed your poem. It's so true that wrinkles are memories, and I'm content. Although when I'm 98, I might not feel so confident about all that...

I have always found a kind of passion in most of what you write.

This piece is merely a small sample

I think I need to put this poem up next to the mirror. What a wonderful affirmation of what makes us real.

thanks for stopping by.

I'll certainly return here for inspiration

Ok geeez.... shoot me. I would have a face lift today if I didn't have to pay for it. I know, just kick me now.

Hi again, tumblewords! I just noticed that you have a fractal flame here. I've been trying to create some with Oxidizer, the Mac version of your software. No luck here so far, the software is so new. It can take 12 hours to render an image.

I like your flame so much. I tend to be drawn to the colors you have here. I love the rich complexity of this.

Would you like to be on One Single Impression blogroll? I am hoping you will say yes!

Great question at the end!
