Abiqui for Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry offers this prompt: View a portrait which you didn't take and write a poem based on the pov of the actual photographer.

Abiqui

prickly as a pear
she entices softness
from bedrock and blood
distancing city glitter
so firmly glued to fame

a never-tumbled mien
eyes gritty as old bones
skin rough and ready
but the bristle hair paints
a different scene

she proffers a cool stare
waits for the shutter click
I dream of a macro capture
with her center showing
close as stamen and pistil

Scraps for Magpie Tales #50

Magpie Tales #50                Willow offers an intriguing photo each week in a move to draw words from writers. Follow the Magpie link to see this week's photo and to play along.

Scraps

a road excised
from the fabric of knolls
offers unfurled curves
like fortunes from a cookie

ardent red tree trunks
favor no-man's land
below the crystal ceiling
with one foot in the mire

and yet it's there
she chose to wander
on that road excised
from fabric of the knolls

B for ABC Wednesday

ABC Wednesday

Bletherskate: a garrulous talker of nonsense

The word itself rolls across the tongue and fills the mouth with surreal pfft. Never have so many politicians and pundits spoken so much nonsense.

If BletherSkate could be abbreviated and assigned to names as a descriptive such as PhD or MA, it would save truth-seekers countless hours of checking sources or making bad decisions based on bletherskates' words.

Is there a bletherskate school in your area?

Poem for Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry prompts: Write a poem about fruit.

Once Around a Mango

knifing past the pit
I slide slices from a golden half
toward a cut glass dish

shapeshifting toward summer
tongue primed by passion
I meet the second half at the sink

suck the lingering essence
from the yellow red green rind
lick juice from my life line

fantasizing Hawaii's warmth
I finger the strings of stone
on this gray winter midday

A for ABC Wednesday

A for ABC Wednesday

Abozzo is a preliminary sketch and Art is a varietal word for which  Wikipedia offers a wonderful definition. Like a fine wine, art has personal taste or undefined liking.

My preference in art relies on color with texture (readily seen in my watercolor banner) and avoids photographic style even though I love great photos, many of which are found here on ABC Wednesday.

This computer painting was produced in fairly short order last night using the Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet and Adobe Photoshop Elements. Different from that which I usually doodle, this one has a character I like so I can call it art.

Finding it interesting to 'paint' on the computer, I also find it very difficult to do, albeit much cleaner with no brush washing and such which leaves more time for daydreaming.

Do you design arts/crafts using computer software? Do you find it easier or more difficult?

Poem for Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry offers this prompt: write an alliterative word list, leave it for a couple of days before using it as a springboard for a poem.

a small slip of ivy
the heart of ess
curls round my thumb
fashions a smile
a sense of spring
symbolic and green

the original sin
shaped by an asp
morphs to blood stains
on spreadsheets and
scripts the bottom line
of snakes in the grass

sweet and sensual
serendipitous
curves to a spiral
the siren call
of the seasonal ess
a small slip of ivy

Symphony for Magpie Tales

Magpie Tales #48   Each week, Willow offers an enigmatic image to draw out words.

Symphony

sweet measured spirits
breathe solo chords
beyond the face of stone

soaring notes
climb to calm the chaos
of that newest world

with a sprightly dance
they turn around,
return to the old abode

beyond the face of stone
solo chords breathe out
welcoming spirits home

Z for ABC Wednesday

ABC Wednesday

Zzzz
My new-found zest for exercise is zany! The shiny new Wii begs to be played.

Yesterday I bowled to the applause of a virtual audience and was later asked to concede in a practice golf game when my swings numbered ten and the ball was nowhere near the green.

The fun-filled fitness test indicated that I am four Wii years less than my actual age. I'm dedicated to restoring myself to twenty and no, I'm not saying how many half-centuries that might be.

As soon as my oatmeal settles, I'll wakeboard or cycle on a sunny desert island while the local weather flings snow pellets and frigid wind.

When the balance board arrives by UPS today, I'll practice yoga and balance, stair stepping, biking and other zany, zesty moves. Maybe even Zumba...when I get fitness'd back to before.

Today is another zappy (lively, entertaining) day for Mii. How is yours?

My Mii!

Foot Fairy for Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry offers this prompt:  write a poem about feet

Foot Fairy

dark blocks brake the flux
stifle energy and healing ~

white tendrils of clearing smoke
rise from burning sage

strong fingers massage
ease the dull meridians

healer's reflexology
kneading brings free flow

currents of clear light
stream unchecked beneath my skin

I float on the hands of time
tight spots left behind

A sketch.

Y for ABC Wednesday

Every now and then, I think I've played this meme too long. Too hard. Every now and then...when the difficult letters at the end of the alphabet arrive!

However, I stumbled across this old word and while not totally enamored with the sound of it, I do yearn for the potential of experiencing the energy it defines.

Yare: Reflects a sense of mental quickness felt from time to time - the readiness of facing challenges. And at this moment, I love the idea of Yare!

Yes, I do!
