Fridge Space

snow falls higher
than my shoulder blades
buries sprawling sumac
cold seeps indoors
utility meter spins but
heat hides til summer

when frosting in my space
is too nasty to bear
I prop open the fridge door
bask in warmer air

Sunday Scribblings prompt

Yes, I'm still whining about winter. For no good reason.

Oh what my kids would give to be playing in that.....we've had only one flurry that didn't stick. Great piece, as always, your writing always moves so beautifully.

Clever and fun! Makes this Californian shiver just to think about it.

I think you may have a good reason!
Interesting to imagine the fridge as warmer than me...

Air in your fridge is warmer than the rest of the place....oh brrrr.

Great twist and fun read. I always think it's strange how fridges feel warm to the touch on the outside while so cool inside.

Now you keep on whining about winter if you want.
It's making me feel a little warmer :-)

Ooo...reading your post, makes me feel really freezing. It must be really cold up at your place. Singapore is at 26 to 32 deg celcius. What a contrast. Love the post. It's beautifully written.

I love the "utility meter spins". Having grown up in Idaho, I have seen some serious rpms. Mine spin here in the summer.

I can relate. I don't know where you live but a Canadian prairie winter is a bitter experience and if the power fails tonight (-33 with windchill up to -40+) I may well have to crawl in my fridge to keep warm. Getting back to your poem very nice indeed. as always.

I could feel your "big freeze" but the thought was great! Gave me some cool thoughts for our sultry summer days and the impossibility of sleeping well at night!

A cute write!
