Night Site

Idling on a noble yacht
hot on sandman’s heels
I bask in southern sunlight
that slides from a cobalt sky,
count colorful birds on the wing

massaged with tropical oils
before a skin-soothing tub,
nurtured by Epicurean delights
then, gentled into a bedtime nest
of sensuous satin and silk.

Morning draws gray reality
overfull of implausible piffle
until I yearn for darkness
and stressless sanity spawned
in nighttime travels.

I wish my dreams would take me to such a place! I'm always dreaming I forgot to feed or diaper a baby! What is up with that ? haha

Dreams. Fantasy. Bliss!

I never get taken to "stressless sanity" by sleep.

And oh, how I love the word "piffle"! :-)

My scribbings are up. Come visit!

I never remember my dreams, but if I did then dreaming of a yacht sailing through tropical waters would be a great one to have.

sandman's heels and bedtime nest are my favorite phrases. Like the alliteration you've used as well as the imagery. Great!

It makes you wonder why you ever want to wake up.
Except to write about it so beautifully, of course.

That was beautiful. What a gift with words you have.

Thanks for dropping by. I'll see if I can find a room for you. LOL

I'd like to invite you to join Heads Or Tails, a weekly meme played at my blog. It's very easy to play and fun, too. It's played on Tuesdays but I put my posts up on Monday night so the early birds can sign in.

If you're interested check my right sidebar for weekly themes/prompts and links to the Notify List and the rules and graphics page. :)

That was a lovely poem...I loved this stanza. I wanted to be in the moment when I read it.

"massaged with tropical oils
before a skin-soothing tub,
nurtured by Epicurean delights
then, gentled into a bedtime nest
of sensuous satin and silk."
