B for ABC Wednesday

ABC Wednesday

Bletherskate: a garrulous talker of nonsense

The word itself rolls across the tongue and fills the mouth with surreal pfft. Never have so many politicians and pundits spoken so much nonsense.

If BletherSkate could be abbreviated and assigned to names as a descriptive such as PhD or MA, it would save truth-seekers countless hours of checking sources or making bad decisions based on bletherskates' words.

Is there a bletherskate school in your area?

Sarah Palin qualifies. I've never heard a public figure use so many ill-chosen words to say so little.

Fantastic and the best laugh I've had regarding the BS we hear every hour of every day! Definitely the perfect word for the B Day!!

What a great word! I agree with you on the abbreviation -what a way to identify those that run on and on!

A great choice for B, - I have been to a four hour meeting today where I met a number of Bletherskates, - I'm not sure if they studied or if the bletherskating just came naturally....

I LOVE the word bletherskate and can think of several people it describes well. :)

Bletherskate - I think I've misspelled it? - is a great word. Kind of like skating through blather. I'm still a fan of garrulous. :-)

I know a lot of people who become bletherskates after a glasses of wine. Perhaps what's needed is a bletherskate correction facility.

Gosh! I wish like anything that this word in particular would stick in my brain! But, like Roger says, too many brain blips...
what a great word!

A world without BS would be so much quieter, but alas, bletherskates are not an endangered species.

My mother used to say bletherskyte, but it meant the same thing.

I love that word and the abbreviation. Can I nominate the Prime Minister and also any politician being interviewed on TV for having BS after their name?!?

ChrisJ said...

Most politicians would qualify . They'd rather do that than get anything done. I do like your heading fractal foto. A nice display of greens for spring.

new word for me.

Does it apply to a kid student who doesn't stop talking?

Rune Eide said...

I just have to hear the politicians PR-people.

Have to agree with twitches on Sarah Palin, then again, quite a few of those jokers on Capitol Hill would qualify as Bletherskate masters ;-P

Nq, we haven't got a bletherskate school, although I suspect our M.P's to have attended one some time ago. Or are politicians perhaps forced to attend one before becoming a member of parliament??

Almost onomatopoeic, a perfect word to describe the 'newspeak' of the corporate, political and media world. Thank-you for increasing my lexicon.

Very interesting, I'm not sure...but if I correctly understood, maybe it's the same meaning when in French we say "langue de bois"! :)
Cool !

I loved it, and I agree with 'twitches'. That was a fun post and I never heard of the word before, and as far as I know we don't have a school anywhere close. hee, hee.

I've lost the will to live in meetings run by bletherskates. Great word, I shall probably think of it next time.
