Poem for Three Word Wednesday

ThomG, moderator of Three Word Wednesday, offers the following three for prompt: velocity, eclipse, languish. Thanks, ThomG.

Cuts in Time

the velocity of autumn
whistles leaves from the trees
and summer comes to rest

light and dark pass in eclipse
night gains the upper hand
sun-long days languish

before ink can turn to dust
she writes the cuts of time
and takes her place in line

The image is a double fractal created in Fractal Explorer, manipulated in MS Digital Image.

I love, love, love the line, "and summer comes to rest." This was a great, fun read.

Love this - I love autumn - favourite time of year - welcome it -

this part of your poem makes me go 'hmmm'

'she writes the cuts of time
and takes her place in line'

indeed from today in this hemisphere at least the nights draw on and the days linger less - where did it all go?

A great lament for the going of summer. I'll look forward to her next year - we may even get one in the UK then ;-)

Beautiful images! It's so hard to come up with something fresh about fall but you did!

Summers departure beautifully portrayed.
You made me learn a new term-fractals.

I am also feeling a tad melancholy at the end of summer this year.

Well done. I like this one quite a lot.

Quite beautiful, and I like the accompanying image.

Both the image and the poem were sublime. I love autumn, it's my favorite time of the year. This poem describes its beauty perfectly.

The first stanza gives such a clear picture of autumn bidding bye to summer.

Beautiful one.Enjoyed reading it.

Writing prompts make you (I mean people generally) write things you would otherwise have never thought of, and use words in ways you typically wouldn't.

I'm thinking specifically of "velocity of autumn"; a thought that I doubt would come any other way.

Enough ramble. Nice work.

I like the title and the photo. Sometimes Time seems fractured into episodes, and we have to put it together into a pattern so we can find our place.

So beautiful! We've been experiencing an unusually early autumn, and it's a welcome relief from our long, sticky summers.
