K for ABC Wednesday

ABC WEDNESDAY ROUND 5: K is for.....

Well, wouldn't you know.

This bright little flower captured a spot in a patio crack and looked so appealing, I decided it should stay.




According to my best research I recently (yesterday) learned that it might be a Krigia dandelion.

I'll wait to be corrected by those who know plants and don't give their heart away to any weed just because it sports a cheerfully spunky blossom and requires no upkeep.

Anyone?

Well, I don't know what it's name is, but it is a cheerful looking little bugger and we always use one of those!!

LOL... I would gladly give my heart to a weed if it gladdened my day! Of course once I learned it was a weed, I'd probably have to pull it out... you know, by the roots...

Dandelions get such a bad rap but, really, they are so bright and cheerful. They should be honored like yours!

Well, a dandelion by any other name would be as cheerful and sunny as your Krigia. I see the odd perky dandelion out these days, but haven't stop to ask their name....

I don't know the name, but Krigia works well for K. It's a beautiful flower, whatever its name.

I've never heard of this before, Sue, but I happened to have my handy wildflower book next to the computer. Sure enough, there is a Krigia dandelion; not only that, but there are three different species! Yours looks very much like the bloom in the picture. I don't pull out anything that looks pretty and grows up on its own, unless someone tells me it's an invasive weed:)

It's very hard to identify these 'dandelion' flowers without the leaves and a view of the whole plant, so I'm going with your Krigia! It's charming, anyway. :)

So many blossoms look like this. It's the leaves and stems that help in identification. Petty blossom. I'm glad you let it stay.
