Q for ABC Wednesday

ABC Wednesday prompts with the letter Q. Thank you, MsNesbitt!

This card game is giggling entertainment. It is fun when played with several spellers and a couple of 'not'. An offshoot of rummy, the object of the game is to spell words from a dealt hand. Ideally, these would be real words properly spelled but they are often pretenders. Each game begins with a deal of 3 cards which is increased by one card each hand until a 10-card deal has been reached. Draw and discard forms the basic play until one player can empty his hand.

This link will take you to the http://Quiddler.com page where you can play a couple of online games (or more). Or you can order the game. Have fun!

I need to check the meaning of the word.... I like your blog very much. I dream of being able to write haiku.

This looks like a good game. I love word games and Quiddler is a great word in itself.

You have introduced me to a new game - sounds interesting and fun, but I see that everyone must have the same native language.

Neat way to get the "Q" -- I would never have thought of it.

That looks fun. Did you know a quiddler is one who dawdles? Recently used the word in a story. Beat that for coincidence.

Thanks for introducing me to a new one.
I did not know quiddler was one who dawdles. I would be a quiddler as I dawdle most of the time.

Re: my quaking aspen-- I knew you'd recognize them. :O)

Never heard of this but sounds vaguely similar to a game I played years ago called Lexicon but Quiddler is a much better name, and so useful for Q.

Dragonstar said...

This sounds fun. I grew up with Lexicon and loved it, and I'd like to try this. I'll go straight over to have a look.

Ooh! I HAVE to try this! My family plays Scrabble and rummy games all the time, so I bet we will have a blast with this one.

That game looks like fun! I wonder if you can play it with someone who's dyslexic - as one of our sons is!

Might be fun, might be too stressful. Might be interesting to find out!
