Yesterday, the four-year-old came to spend the afternoon and we built a slew of new holiday memories.
He arrived in plastic knight wear so we searched the Internet for stories of knights and armor, then stopped by Astronomy to visit a few nebula as he's impressed with the stars.
The Office Max Elfyourself was a project I'd undertaken earlier in the week so he laughed til he had tears running down his cheeks at the sight of his dog dancing in 'wizard' clothes.
He took a couple of pictures with my camera and we put them on Christmas cards for his family members.
Half a dozen snowflakes were scissored from colored paper to hang in his room.
A quesadilla with several bites missing reminded him of Bat Mobile so he needed to see if it would fly. Well. Surprised me!
Curious about the collage of his family members that decorated the 2007 calendar, he thinks he'd like to make one of them next time.
The last stop, as we stood ankle deep in projects, was a trip to PBSKids where he colored online, read stories, guessed how many peanuts it took to equal the height of the elephant and so much more.
The sad part was that he had so many other things he wanted to do and our time was up for now...on the way to the car, he stopped to check the pool and see if the ice on it was slick and how much longer it would be before he could get back to swimming.
He may not remember all of it, but I'll never forget.

What wonderful loving memories you're creating. Even if he doesn't remember the specifics, that warm loving feeling he gets when you're together he'll remember forever.
He's a lucky little boy! My grandaughter is just two but already we enjoy crafty things. Every time she visits she asks to make a book. It's just too much fun!

We did the elf thing too, and the dog at our houses was really, really good! What a great day you had. Did you know that 4-year olds laugh more than any other age group? Have a wonderful Christmas!

Sue......what a wonderful day. I had many like that with my grandmother.....no internet then, but lots of creating and sharing time together. And you know what? I remember it all.....and keep the memories tucked in a special grandma spot. Your little one will too I bet. :)
