H for ABC Wednesday

I'm on the lookout for a humgruffin. It would give me great pleasure to call someone a humgruffin just because the word is surely a quirky one that belongs in a poem, a knock-knock joke or a backpack of fave sayings.

Humgruffin is defined as 'a terrible person'. Maybe I know a lot of them or maybe I know only one or none. Terrible is not very definitive. The more I think about it, the more I'm not sure I'd know one if I found it. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I know many.

How many do you know?

Can't say I know any by name. But I'm sure there are a lot of Humgruffins out in the world. Would they live under little toll bridges and collect the tolls, before letting us cross?

The word makes me think of Ebenezer Scrooge when he said, "Bah! Humbug!"

I looked it up and found "terrible or repulsive person" so that really opens up the field.
Just sticking with "terrible", however, I can think of some ex-husbands...
Actually, I've never seen or heard the word before, so I'd like to give it some thought before applying it to anyone other than serial killers and the prime minister of Canada.

Next time someone is being grumpy, I'm tossing that word out just to baffle and maybe shake 'em up enough to smile.

It's really a catchy word, too bad it has a bad meaning. I think I've know few in my lifetime.

I've known some too. Thanks for sharing this new word.

My ABC is about the Humongous Coke in Disney.

Sounds like a word from Old Possums!

I would like to say that I know none. But, that would be a horrible lie! Even one would be too may. What a great word!

I've known a lot. But as you said terrible is not very definitive so then maybe I've known a few or none. Happy H Day!

I love that word! I think I'll use it every chance I get. :-) Unfortunately, I can think of a few people it could describe right now.
