Just sayin' for Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings offers this prompt: What pressing matter do you have weighing on your mind? What would you like to say to someone? What would you like to say to the world? Or to yourself? What do you think is important enough to make people listen? What would make you say, "Listen up because this is important?"

This came up again today and seems to be something I want to say... I'll no doubt have something else in an hour or so. :)

I love receiving e-mails, but where are we headed when much of the population is educated by rumor or knee-jerk opinion?

Please don't forward chain e-mails that purport lies to be truth. If you haven't the energy to let Snopes or other reliable sources investigate for you, just delete the fool things.

And, when forwarding an e-mail to 35 people, hiding them behind bcc (blind carbon copy) makes it a little tougher for scammer-spammers to harvest your closest friends' addresses.

There. I said it and I'm glad.

And, I love you! No matter what.

I hate chain emails so much...especially when they tell you that harm will come your way if you don't forward them to a gazillion other people in the next 6 minutes.

Beautiful image, as always!!

I use snopes a lot when I receive an email making any claims as to authenticity. The vast majority are always false or partial truths. The worst as far as I am concerned are the fake Amber alerts. What pleasure could possibly come from creating them? The problem is that the INTERNET would be a great resource for Amber alerts but real ones might get discarded with these bullshit ones.

I miss the old-school chain letter days when you had to write out all ten letters out by hand--the guilt and the fear was much more tangible when accompanied by writer's cramp!

Yes I delete all but the funny ones now but I do share some that I get sent, not because they tell me I should though.I hate the stupid adverts the most.

I hate the unreliable emails also. I head right to snopes. I am shocked at the number of people that believe if they read it on the internet, it must be true. I am careful also with the addresses. Good points.

Well said! I delete the ones predicting doom and bad fortune too, but so far I seem to have survived!

I never forward those emails on!! Though one or two chain emails do have something of interest, at least.

Good post and timely subject. I detest the ones that "threaten" bad luck it you don't forward them. I do, however, enjoy receiving the funny emails. A good laugh is always welcome.

Really enjoyed the digital image!

Thanks for the link to snopes as I never have used it. Mostly I use that old delete button and set up the spam guard. I have a few friends who send me silly stuff, and I still love them. So hugs to YOU!

AMEN! I have a few friends who just don't fact check on snopes no matter how many times I tell them to. It's very frustrating!

Isn't it amazing how in an era when we have more ways than ever to seek information, review facts and assess multiple opinions on a matter, so many would rather take some random stranger's latest screed as gospel? It's kind of scary about what this says about humanity.

My mom is especially vulnerable to the threats (if you don't send this you'll have bad luck) attached to those types of emails.
