Poem for Sunday Whirl #98

Thanks, Brenda, for the Wordle prompt!

unbalanced instant
borne from blue into
the blessed free

at first gasp
a snare opened
and with a slap

the dust unfolded
a wild and shaky ride
on her red Schwinn

she earned those wings
the training wheels
were, oh so far, behind

this poem reminds me of a time when i'd already learned to ride a bike without my training wheels. i got cocky and rode my bike as fast as i could down a graveled road. my feet couldn't keep up with the pedals any longer when i did a cartwheel over the handlebars... talk about painful, ;)

wonderful poem for the Sunday Whirl. have a great day~

This brings back memories. First it's training wheels and in the flip of switch, it's driver's ed.

Into the blessed free!!! Love this!

Learning to ride was so much easier in my day. The road in front was largely unoccupied during the day except for baker's cart drawn by a horse. He plodded on or stopped untended and kept an eye on me with a nod, a snort and a swish of his tail.

A wonderful use of those words.

Man! That is concise. And accurrate for me, too (only without the training wheels--Daddy plopped me on the seat and gave a shove) I love that blesses line.

You do describe the experience of learning to ride a bike very well. It was like a new found freedom. Nicely done concise piece, Susan.

Great portrayal of an essential childhood passage. Adding my echo to the favored "blessed free," wonderful write.
