Ball of Time for Sunday Whirl #64

drawers of eternity
stacked one upon the other
stung by ignorance
spurned by rinds of soul
years of months
subtracted by
faith-full housewives
and carved into
pieces small enough
to fall unnoticed
with the dropping ball of time

The ball of time reminds me of the Ball that drops on New Years eve in Times Square:)
Nicely wordled.

Drawers of eternity... amazing. The whole piece, stellar. You always seem to fit the words succinctly and with precision.

First off, when I saw the image at the head of your piece, I was thrilled by your gift and thought that it doesn't matter what you wrote, the image alone was worth the visit. Then read your poem and could only say, "WOW!" Two for the price of one, keep on trucking lady. And thank you, for both,

Elizabeth

Nicely wordled indeed.

I think drawers of eternity works so well because we all know drawers can be quiet full of the strangest things. And the idea of them stacked one upon carries so much weight. Wonderful.

Wonderfully concise piece of writing, Susan. Some excellent phrasing.

There you go - a different New Year's eve celebration...
I thought of those carved pieces as confetti and dust bunnies and the dropping ball of time; all of the single odd socks rolled into a big ball to be dropped into and mark the topple of dresser drawers honoring the latest complete year of 'housewifery'.

My housewife almost did some ironing...well maybe irony?:

What a great way of putting the words together... "dropping ball of time" ends it so well.
