Viatical for ABC Wednesday

A viatical settlement is the sale of a life insurance policy by the policy owner before the policy matures. More information can be found at Wikipedia.

An early Christmas present (from me to me) of the Kindle Fire means that I'm reading with renewed enthusiasm. Added to this is the ability to digitally download Kindle books from the local library. The most recent series of books on my list comes from author James Grippando, creator of lawyer Jack Swyteck. Reading the second of his series, Beyond Suspicion, brought up viatical and I remembered when that word was prevalent in investing terminology.

And never let it be said that I read more than a couple of chapters before playing a bit of Angry Birds. All this excitement brought housework to a complete stop.

Do you buy gifts for yourself or am I the only one who does?

I wait until Christmas is over, and then buy a CD or two I didn't receive.

Way to go....I haven't gotten a Kindle yet but I do play a bit of Angry Birds on my phone.
This techie stuff doesn't let me get anything done either...(:0)

Books and discs often. Another excellent word.

Sometimes I do, but like Roger, I usually get something after the holiday. My husband is getting me a Kindle, though, I know that for sure. He has had one a long time, and loves it.

Since we no longer celebrate Christmas, we buy ourselves gifts all year long. I'm glad to find someone else who loves reading. Although I don't have a Kindle, I do have many books waiting on my bookshelves to be read.

Yes, I do. And I hope I get myself a Kindle this year.

Viatical - a new word. Amazing how your vocabulary increases with reading, and a Kindle or Kobo makes it so easy.

Thanks for the vocabulary lesson...Now I know the meaning of a new word :) The computer I am typing on was a gift to myself.

It's good for the spirit to give oneself presents - mostly books, in my case.
Excellent word - wonder whether I'll ever have cause to use it.

That is the hardest part for me when shopping for someone else-I see more things for me than who I am shopping for! Sounds terrible, I know.
I always look forward to see what obscure word I will learn from you! You never fail.

Interesting, I have just been reading that libraries now want E-books not paper ones, but the publishers are holding out, not letting them have them.

You always come up with such good words. This is another new one for me.
