You know I loved your idea of Alice, but I wasn't thinking of wonderland at all but Alice Springs, Australia! As in a town called Alice, and this seemed so perfect somehow--with the infertile landscape, the dissembling and the empty chair informing the silent music. Of course, the poem would also work without the picture! K.
I am always amazed at how differently different people react to prompts. Never in a million years would I have seen what you saw, but now that you've pointed it out, it blindingly obvious.

Now Alice was an excellent idea for the pic.
I agree Alive was a lovely idea. Wonderful
An odd kind of wonderland, though...
I feel of this tanka is just right.
nice..great link to Alice..and now that you point it out it all makes sense...
I LOVE this piece. So few words, yet I felt the punch of each one. Beautiful.
Ahh... brilliant. I love it!
This is apt.

Perfect for the prompt. It is an odd image, isn't it?

nice play on alice and the silent music...
Alice had quite the knack for wandering into surreal places. Great idea!
Superb!!
Just the sort of musical chairs Alice would play in that dysfunctional wonderland of adolescence!
Great take!
Oh, yes. I would say that you nailed this one!
A quiet knockout!
It seems to be unanimous - Alice is a brilliant take on the prompt! Love it.

I too saw Alice..so glad you went with her...lovely fantasy!
Yes, perfect setting for Alice. She sure does have to deal with some strange surroundings. I love tankas.
I love what the prompts conjure up! Fabulous take!
Nice link to Alice -- perfect for the somewhat surreal image. Lovely magpie!
Wonderful poem for this surreal prompt!
The disappearing grin of the Cheshire Cat...I think I see it out there. Very clever response to the picture and she is surely a dark haired Alice!
Of course she's Alice!! Well done.
Wonderful! And clever!
