A portable tenderometer from Google search
I don't have a tenderometer (instrument for measuring tenderness of fruits and vegetables) and probably never will but it would have been handy several times during the last month because an Asiatic pear ripens differently than a Bartlett and yesterday I ruined a costly avocado by cutting it too soon.
Maybe it would be a handy item to have but because tenderometers are used for commercial purposes, I'm on my own again.
The anagrammer page touts Scrabble words, anagrams and several varieties of tenderometers.

You are right that it is sometimes very difficult to see if avocados or kiwis are ripe. The tenderometer is certainly an interesting instrument.Have a great Wednesday!
This is another new one for me.
I sure could have used one for my avocados too.
Always love coming here to see what interesting things you are going to share.
NOT even!!! A tendrometer??? How do you find these titillating words? I look forward to the weekly tease.
I didn't even know there was such a thing. I don't do so well with avacodos, either, so maybe I need one.
How interesting but Portable? But then I'm thinking that might just fit in a supermarket trolley and I could weave my way amongst the fruits.
Never heard of one of those. I usually use my teeth.
Never heard one of this before....
I could use one of those too. Great word and one I wasn't familiar with.
While portable it looks awfully big for squeezing fruit! LOL
It was all new to me, never heard of it before. Interesting T again this week.
never imagined there would be an instrument for measuring tenderness!
thank you for sharing!

I need one, I bought 2 avacadoes, and by today, one was too ripe. Yes, sometimes like you I cut them when they are too green.
Perhaps we could have a neighborhood
tenderometer at the stop sign so every one could check their fruit!
Turkeys...and tambourines,
Sherry
