V for ABC Wednesday

ABC WEDNESDAY ROUND 7: V is for.......very nice to be here!

Vigia is a nautical term for a navigational hazard marked on a chart although its existence and nature has not been confirmed  (from Spanish vigía reef, from Latin vigilāre to keep watch) http://www.thefreedictionary.com/vigia

It's no wonder my house is dusty, windows are smeary and snow remains unshoveled. When I found this word, I spent hours and hours looking for the representative icon and am nonplussed to say that I've been unable to uncover it. I haven't given up but I've also quit holding my breath. Surely, it'll show up soon.

Last week I posted a link for unwords, this week I found a word warning for maybe hazards. Is there a message there? Do you know where the vigia icon is hiding?

I think it's behind the kitchen cabinets. Did you try looking there?

It's in the drawer upstairs, under your keys.

Sometimes we have to find icons in the form of art pieces. Here is one I found using BING images. I hope you like it.

I think mine is behind the refrigerator keeping company with the Dust Bunnies.

I think it is under the bed with the dust bunnies sleeping.

Try looking behind the fridge or between the clean sheets!! What a fun one for the V Day! I love it -- and everyone's reaction! Enjoy the rest of your week!

It may be hiding somewhere in between the paint brushes.

If you do find it it will be in the last place you look, - and if you don't find it it will jump out and surprise you one day. Have faith....

I am quite certain that it is not in my house for I have an alarmsystem which warns me as soon as there is any intruder or a beginning of fire. It is interesting to know what it looks like. I hope you'll find it before Christmas!

As with everything else that gets lost - look for something else and you will find it!

Since it's a chart marking, I think looking in the house if futile. So's looking on the web. I just joined in your madness. Thanks. I needed a break from Vs.

Haha! I think it's wherever my biros are. And the odd socks.

Seriously? I just spent ten minutes looking and I can't find it either. I wonder if it's not actually a symbol in itself, but a particular way of using any of the symbols which refer to hazards? Just a thought ...

Where's the science to back our poetry? I wish I knew. This is a beautiful post.

Tumblewords, you are so creative. As with a fractal image, I could just look and look and look at your blog and artwork and read your words and be lost in a world so detached from needing to go to work or needing to scrub my kitchen floor. It is delightful.

Before I knew Tumblewords I knew "Running with Scissors." Keep up the creativity and thanks for visiting Greensboro Daily Photo. I don't make the rounds often enough. But when I do, I so enjoy!

Interesting word! I've been looking for a symbol, too, without joy. My husband, a lifelong sailor, had never heard of vigia. All his charts are on the boat so I can't pore over them - just as well, really. I know there's a vigia in the bay of Oban. Perhaps when a vessel is snagged upon it it will be identified and made clear to other mariners;-)

Can you tell I am a bit behind on getting to see the ABC posts? Better late than never!
I'll ask my brother in law about vigia-he is a merchant marine and is out at sea at least 6 months out of the year.
