Daylight backing away is a wonderful image. I read this and hear the drips of the melting ice, and I swear I hear the hardening of the icicle in the first place.

Wonderful... I almost wrote about the same thing, and then instead my brain jumped to whiskey so I went down a different path, but I loved how you put that together!

What a great interpretation, Sue! I love the icicle idea and fractal...and the phrase "daylight backing away" is awesome!
