Born to bear
a mouthful of sorry,
sown like apple seeds
on bone-dry dirt,
she reaps a paltry crop.
I’m sorry, she said
when masses burned
kiddies went hungry
when elders were uncomforted
companies failed
when people lied
emperors were nude
when relationships shattered.
One day she said,
Sorry,
I have no more.

I felt a lump form in my throat.
Your poems stir my emtions.
This one caught me unaware.
I need a tissue.
Thank you.

It could almost be Gaia herself that you're talking about.
So very touching, thank you.
I felt that lump as well and more.I was very moved by this poem. I felt a strong sense of guilt with that apology. The image fit sensationally perfect as well.

wonderful, as is the nude emperor. I enjoyed it very much.
A very thoughtful post...
Amazing. The pain of being unable to bear it any longer. You've touched me with this.
I loved this. I enjoy reading poetry and this was an amazing poem, even in its brevity. When I say that I only mean that when I try my hand at poetry the darn thing gets really, really long :o)
Have a great evening!
A deep expression of sorry. I enjoy this a lot.
This poem resonated so strongly with me...just beautiful...thank you for sharing!
a very sad little poem; sadly true that some people (children) (adults) must say "sorry sorry sorry" from birth on - and not from their own chosing.
beautiful! :)
Wow, it's a great ending :)
Some people really seem to have been born saying they're sorry. Others have never even thought about saying those words.
I love what you wrote in your profile, especially the last part, made me smile :)
I agree. I felt a lot of guilty with that sorry...
Loved the fractal too!
