Did you listen to The Shadow Knows? Or The Green Hornet? Or Sky King?
In our kid years, my younger brother and I evaded the nightly 'lights-out' issue in our shared bedroom by using a crystal radio with earphones while we were scared into silence by listening to these ghostly tales where crime doesn't pay and heroes are heroes.
Recently, I purchased a crystal radio but it just wasn't the same. No wonder I was delighted to find these old time radio programs on the Internet at the time I finally splurged and converted to broadband.
A large smile limbers my lips for the entire half-hour of each program. It's one step back and a step forward all in one.

Hi Sue! Very cool fractal -- I see a scary face in it! And it's so great that you can listen to the old time radio programs on the internet -- what fun!!
:)
I remember so well curling up under the bedcovers every night at at midnight to listen to DJ Johny Walker play 'When a Man Loves a Woman' on Radio Caroline. Those were the days when the BBC had a monopoly and stations such as Caroline and Radio London had to broadcast from ships out in the North Sea. Happy days!
My Dad loved those shows. Maybe I can encourage him to get online after all...
Old time radio! I can't wait to check it out. thanks for sharing this with us!
The only time I curled up in bed listening to the radio with an ear plug was in my teens, listening to pirate radio - usually Radio Caroline! How exciting it all seemed!
I'm going to check out the site, even though I don't recognise the names of the programmes you mention. Sounds fun!
