Tillamook Rock bounces hope
Ballantyne's magic
a tocsin of trust
steadfast throughout the tempest
eyelids fail to blink
The image is a bookmark made from a pen/ink sketch. Lighthouses are magical and mystical to those of us who rarely see them 'in person'.

Sue, I looked at this image and then read the poem. I live in Portland very near Tillamook. The tempest describes this place perfectly.

Lovely image and words
You've captured the importance perfectly.
Loved these! And the black and white drawing of the lighthouse is wonderful.
the second photo is very true. liked the sketch too
eyelids fail to blink, that fits perfectly
I recoginzed the Oregon name, too. I was born in Salem.
Loved your sketch, Sue, how nice to be able to do that.
fail to blink, fall, to blink is to fail. interesting similarity of words there.
"a tocsin of trust"
neat sound. a new to me word.
"Eyelids fail to blink"
You said it so well... how often have I been in that place? I love the mystery of lighthouses - you captured their beauty and wonder completely... and the sketch was awesome!

That is a beautiful haiku! I love your words so much. You have a wonderful vocabulary!
What a beautiful(as usual) drawing. Such talent.
Many hugs, G
You never ceases to amaze me with your talent for writing short, and very creative haiku. Now I see you also do a little sketching. Oh I am so jealous ;), as I can't draw a thing, but would so love to learn even at this old age.
Your sketch is amazing! And I agree with you that lighthouses are mystical and magical- as are your verses!
I surely do like your drawing, Sue. Everyone else does too, it is great!
I looked up Ballantyne's 'Lighthouse' in Google Books. I would like to read it sometime, especially the chapter on the men who lived in the Lighthouse. I had read some accounts, hence a partial background for my poem.

I hope you will excuse me for getting here so late, I have really had more 'stuff' to do than I could handle until tomorrow. Thank you for checking in one me.
