Spellbound for Writers Island

I have a new toy. A gadget. You know me, I give up food, heat and clothes for gadgets. This is an impulse taken. And I'm Spellbound.

A Bamboo Fun by Wacom is in front of me. This is an amazing little item. Far more fun, but probably less productive, than my Roomba.

Bamboo Fun console came with a mouse and pen as well as Adobe Photoshop 5, Corel Painter Essentials 3 and Nik Color Efex Pro 2 GE.

USB connection and software upload allows drawing, editing or designing images (reflected in the computer monitor) using the pen or mouse on the pad. How cool is that?

Well, let me tell you. This is another learning curve that will keep me wide-eyed and wide-wondered until it's warm enough to get outside.

So far, I've only installed Photoshop. When I learn to operate that with my mouth closed and my eyes un-squinted, I'll install the next program.

Fascinating stuff. I'm so glad I wasn't born in the 1700's. Actually, maybe the next century would be an even better choice. I'll scribble that on my monitor for future editing. Just in case time machine technology kicks in.

Oh, now that sounds really interesting! Products from the advancement of technology that help create are always welcome developments - I thought they are part of human achievements.

I wish you well.

Thank you!
You are amazing. I will check this out. Could be a fun way to spend winter next year. Spring is trying to come to my house.

Though I am not conversant with Photoshop, I can well understand how engrossing it can be !

Isnt it amazing to note how different bloggers have such varied reactions to the same prompt of "Spellbound "

I'm with you...so happy to be born in this era, but wouldn't have minded the next one either! Fascinating all the computer technology. I am not as savvy as I'd like to be. Your new gadget sound scrumptious to me! I'm going to look it up!

lol - when you learn how to install without the mouth open and the eyes squinted, let me know - I've never been able to figure that out. :D

Somehow, I can't do sketching on the computer. I have to use pencil and paper. My last resistance to technology? 'Cause even when I squint, it's not the same. :)

You've lost me on this one. I'm only barely computer literate, never touching one until I was past 50.
Whenever 'tech' comes along, I scream for my whizz-kid son :-)

You are much smarter and braver than I!

Wacom is a very old stable for fine art folks. Their wireless tablets and pressure sensitive pens are really great once you get use to them. For products like Corel Draw Suite, or Adobe Illistrator, or Adobe photoshop it's invaluable. They work the best and are the most reliable. Aren't many others out there, but I've always trusted Wacom. Great choice for fun. My recommendation would be go ahead and install all the software at once. If there is tutorials do those first. Also don't be afraid to call their tech support and ask questions. It's what they're paid for, so make them explain it to you if you don't understand something. Don't forget to look for upgrades / updates. Usually there's a driver update after these things ship. I haven't played with the bamboo, but sounds like great fun! I've taught lots of older and younger folk, there is no difference, both have their issues. Stand on your head if it helps. Who cares, it's just fun. ;) - Debased.

What a delightful, informative post.

When I finally manage to get a digital camera, I so want to explore these worlds next on my list.

I just love artwork in so many forms!
