Shoe Fetish

Birkenstocks
brief sport socks
Old Navy flip flops
and Costco flannels
a few tie-dyed T's
serve just fine
'til dreams nudge
that old-time life
where shiny red
spike heels and
flippy skirts dance
in the midnight dark.

Great poem and desire starts with red dancing shoes

I'm not sure what birkenstocks are but I really empathise with the sentiment in this poem . . .oh for the days when I wore stiletto heels and danced the night away.

How you ladies manage to stay upright in stilettos let alone dance beats me! Nice post as always.

I too have a shoe fetish. However, I collect sports shoes!

Housing my soul

where are the days ... lovely poem as indeed always

I've presented you with the 'A roar for powerful words!' award from The Shameless Lions Writing Circle ... would you be so kind and pick it up at ... for some reason I can't get a link inhere ... so I left it under my name

Yes, indeed, and in the closet of my life "Franciscan" sandals, Merrels, and wingtips tip-toe past the biker boots dreaming of the Days of Rage, and the Red Wings somewhere on I-80 heading for somewhere else.
Thanks for your post, who would have thought shoes would make such a great "memoir."

I prefer bare feet. Not Rose though. ;)

My wife is a shoe hoarder, but like you I think she values comfort over style more these days. Every now and then when we hit the town she brings out the heels and complains about how she could ever stand wearing them.

I'm a guy -- a simple guy. I'd wear sneakers to my grave if society would let me.

It's weird how things end up when you feel everything is going to stay the same. It never does, though.

On the whole shoe topic:

I have like 13 pairs of shoes.

The chucks are like $10 a pair, so I go and get a bunch of different colors.

Argh! You reminded me of how much I miss being able to wear high heels. Ah, sigh, they were my weakenss. . . And I looked good in them, too.

Phew! dreams about turning back the clock and why not? Don't you just love those flippy skirts and red heels?

I could understand this. not that I'd wear high heels now. But those platform boots of the 1970s ...
Great times.

There'[s a smiling magic in red heels! Like a passion alive! Red roses on dancing feet! A real Valentine's day kinda memory!

Just lovely!

My husband and I mentioned shoe fetishes the other day. Not because we have one! don't ask. I really like your poem, especially "flippy" skirt.
