Endings are the Same ~ Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry prompts:   Emotion is in our poetry – on some level, be it evocative or exploratory, empathetic or explosive. This week’s prompt is about anger.

Endings are the Same

born with thunder
and the dark of storms
she outruns luck

buys high, sells low
bets on losers
stays 'til the lights come on

curious, she lingers
countersinks all counsel
claps and calls una mas, una mas

shilling for a bettor's win
she deals to change that final finish
hangs 'til the light comes on

Manipulated digital photo.

Love the words in the first stanza. For some people luck never turns but it just might, one day!

I'd say that I like it, but if there is anger in this sketch, then I'm missing something important.

You've interpreted the prompt wonderfully and constructed a powerful, beautiful piece of poetry. I love that your work is never implicit, but instead, the truths you wish to convey are woven elegantly in your words.

I love the start... born with thunder and the dark of storms....it makes me want to know more.

I don't feel the anger, but I love the piece.

I get more the feeling of a gambler than anger, too.
It really reminds me of us and the oil problem.

Susan
I do not feel anger but this is a beautiful piece!
I feel some sadness though.
Love the part about
'una mas'

Although it doesn't seem angry, the person you write about, one who is her own worst enemy, makes me angry thinking of her! So, GOOD!

I think we were all looking for anger, but the prompt was after all 'Emotion', which you've expressed wonderfully.

Yes, there is plenty of emotion here. Well executed.

Ok, since I write about the stock market, when I read this I thought your subject was a day trader, only trading at night. Which would make her a loser. But, I'm not sure. It sounds sad. http://lindagoin.com/

This sounds like a trader on the losing end. I sense anger, anticipation, restlessness and hopelessness.

I'm intrigued by the portrait of this sweet person.

Love the sounds in the poem, the ringing that reverberates -- never changes. Terrific!

Yes, the sounds in the last two stanzas in particular had me re-reading this several times out loud.

What I like best about this post: First, the pansy photo. It's excellent. Then the way that the title summarizes the poem without being trite.

Wow. This is so tightly focused. I love it. "born with thunder" is such a great first line. I also love "she outruns luck." So well done, this look of fast livin'.
