Poem for One Single Impression

One Single Impression posts: Thanks to Tea Leaves 'n' Honey, who offers this week's prompt, conquer.

Ides of October

black rips the sky
bolts her to a flash
a dry time thunders
somewhere north of fall
brings her colors down
bolts her to a flash
when black tilts the sky

Image is a fractal created in Apophysis, resized and buttoned in Irfanview.

It doesn't sound like a very pleasant day!

I do know that October 15 is my sister's birthday. I didn't know it was the Ides of October.

Love the photo, and the words gave me a jolt .. in some places winter can be so bleak, and the image your words portrayed reminded me of one such winter, where the skies were a shocking black -- and there was no storm on the horizon.

Like the power of this poem created by short punchy elements

Loved the images you bring forth with "black rips the sky bolts her to a flash" and the usage "when black tilts the sky"

Googled on Ides of october for it was new to me.

the dry leaves and the cold clouds moving in from the northwest . . . you captured October for me! I especially like the image of the sky bolted by the lightning. Of course, me being me, I see it literally.

I LOVE fractals! I like your poem. My fave line is: "somewhere north of fall"

Kristi Tencarre said...

okay, that line inspired my own poem! hope you don't mind but I used that line as the title because it was the inspiration :-) (if you're interested, you can read it on my blog...) it was a quick write, just came out from deep within. Probably could use some editing. ;-P

These are delectable: “a dry time thunders” and “when black tilts the sky.” Five star : )

Wonderful, Sue. This is so full of whimsical nuance and yet so dynamic.

"somewhere north of fall" captured my imagination too.
