Courage Haiku

One Single Impression posts: Courage is this week's prompt, thanks to Barb's Haiku.

**

strutting down the street,
like shark bait she trolls for threat
...one mother pheasant

**

racing like the wind
tail upright as a tall mast
chipmunk crosses road

That chipmunk has courage, indeed. A lot of them do. It makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Strutting and racing, each to her own. I hope that mother can protect her flock as she wishes.

The chipmonk, some make it, some don't. Did you read my earlier poem that I relocated (link at the bottom of the current post)? I had a road kill deer picture on it. I believe a poacher threw it on the road and it was not road kill.

Courage comes in all sizes and species. Your poem reminds me - I once saw a pheasant tail sitting on a lawn in the city (near a park). It was the full tail, including the pygostyle (ouch!!) and could have been the result of a narrow escape from someone's dog. Come to think of it, the tail was from a male bird, so it wouldn't have had chicks in tow, or things might have been a lot worse.

That first one caught me by surprise. I was so caught up in shark bait that I didn't expect pheasant. The effect was wonderful. Motherhood is that exactly Thanks.

I often marvel at the chipmunks who seem to run straight into danger!

Oh dear, these both make me hold my breath. Pheasants have two sides to them, the fly up in your face kind of startle-effect and then the brave takin' on the world stance. Great poems.

I love that illustration! I must hunt for more. When I looked-up 'Fractals' it obviously has another meaning, other than design.

Dear Sue,
I was so surprised!
Like the Pheasant and the Chipmunk we sometimes must step out. Courage comes in many different forms.

WOW- loved "like shark bait she trolls..."

Enjoyed both haikus.
I like to write, but had abandoned blogging about it as often when Poetry Thurs went under.
Great to have found you. I will return.

Artistically,
Gel

Here's to the courage of the chipmunk. How many car accidents must he cause? To life!

I love the use of "strutting." It so typifies courage.

And, hey, chipmunk, speed it up!

I've seen that chipmunk! I like the images, but I'm not sure that chipmunk behavior which cannot anticpate consequences is really "courage."

I've just read Jodi's. Love em both.
