U for ABC Wednesday

ABC WEDNESDAY ROUND 6: U is For ...

Under the Hoya

This plant began as a cutting from Mother's hoya after her untimely death twenty-four years ago. Its green leaves now wind in and out and all around to cover the entire window sill area plus a little more.

When Jen, who has been the main caretaker for this special hoya, mentioned that it was blooming, I raced to take a picture since it had been a long time since I'd seen a hoya blossom.

Good job, Jen!

Plants are simply amazing! I have a "hoya" but it's completely different; yours is so unusual. Thanks for posting this.

It looks like a bouquet of stars. Very beautiful. Are they difficult to grow?

Does this have something to do with Georgetown University's Hoyas?
Lovely stars.
On behalf of the ABC Wednesday team, thank you! - ROG

I never seen a hoya. What does the rest of it look like? And, I wonder why it doesn't bloom very often? Many unanswered questions, I suppose.

I'd never heard of a hoya before. Just googled it and it's my new favorite flower. Thanks for sharing.

Never seen anything like these flowers. They look like they are made out of wax. I wish I would remember the name of them for the future, but I don't think it's going to happen. Getting old!

How wonderful that it is still flourishing after nearly a quarter of a century and remains a lovely memento. Someone obviously has green fingers and just the right location:-)

Wow ... I've never even heard of a Hoya, let alone seen one. What a stunning picture! It does look plastic!

I just watched some time lapse movies on You Tube of Hoya flowers opening, and I'm even more amazed. How lovely for you to see your mother's plant flowering so beautifully!
