Pre-Release for Magpie Tales

Magpie Tales offers an image prompt on Thursdays. Post response by Tuesday morning. Please visit the site to view the image.

hexagons
cupped by honor's round
story sticks

Pre-Release

silent stalwart pick-up sticks
upright in memory cup
wait to sketch the thoughts
she cannot carve

graphite safely disguised
as a functional tool
to dispense those views
she cannot share

erasers nibbled away
tips sharpened time and again
the cup will switch to empty
when her words begin to spill

Very descriptive. I enjoyed reading it. I love the three lines at the top too.

Ah, how many of us instantly recall the same nibbling, and the chewing and tapping that accompanied our searchs for just the right words.

I love the last two lines and the truth contained in the poem, that pencils are so much more than functional tools.

dynamite sue... love the words you use so subtle, takes a second glance to absorb...hexagon, round... carve, share, spill... and everything inbetween waiting game

Dear Tumblewords! A most excellent fractal poem; so detailed anc concise in zen-like structure; like Chinese writing built from top to bottom (vertical). Refined definitions of the pencils and pencil holder. Very stirring and mesmerizing imagery. Reminds me of pottery, this building up of words. Amazing how you do this! With much skill and artistry. +++

Wonderful style, TW. I love the idea of a pencil as a tool.

This line conjured a lovely image for me. Then, going back to look at the title, I smiled.
