Willows
somewhere
between middle night black
and the sweet blue of dawn
she saw from the window
a thundering over willows
dizzied with yearning
she tumbled from her ledge
to be borne away by the cranes
a thousand in number
cranes who heard her cravingfor their ultimate mending
somewhere
beyond middle night black
toward the sweet blue of dawn Fractal image.

Tumblewords, I really like this one for I have heard the cranes "garrooing" in the day and in the night. It is such a wild sound and it will carry one away on its wings! Your poem captures that feeling beautifully.
Oh my your words come tumbling out and land about the page settling into a beautiful tender poem.

You capture this beautiful sequence so well. It must be magical to witness and participate in the migration of hundreds of cranes.
I adore "middle night black" and "sweet blue of dawn". Beautiful.
what an accomplished poem
for some reason I would have said the instead of their..mending
what am I missing here
or just another poet tinkering!
loved it
Top notch! This is one of my favorites of yours (so far!) Perhaps it wasn't intended, but images of Sadako entered my brain. I can picture her being carried away by cranes.
Love this piece! thank you thank you.....~Brenda

Truly beautiful, the images conjured are quite spectacular. Your writing is very lyrical, very moving.
I loved your imagery. I'll think about the lines "a thundering over willows . . . as they whooped up the gorge" for awhile. Thanks for this gift.
Like priests of healing, they took her away. So full of grace.
"heard her craving for their ultimate mending"---that soooo speaks to my soul. This really is very good.
