Covert for Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings posted the prompt: Covert

bird of paradise
hums in the night

whispers warnings
from a dark abyss

live wires twist away
gambol on sheer and flimsy ice

under foot and over head
faultline crackles spread

bird of paradise
crying in the night

Storyteller recently posted a beautiful series of photographs of the exotic Bird of Paradise. I created this image on Bamboo Fun with Adobe Photoshop Elements, cropped in Irfanview and framed with FrameFun.

The night can certainly be no paradise. Great words, as always, with a touch of intrigue.

I must say the Bird of Paradise has never been my favourite flower (too stiff) but the idea of it involved with night is a new one.

Bird of Paradise is one of my favorite flowers.
Your poem made me feel as if the bird of paradise as nature warning man of what's to come.
Love the graphic.
Thanks for visiting.

Love the poem! It's my mom's favorite flower. It's amazing how much it does resemble a bird. Nature, even the bugs-from afar of course-, is so beautiful. Seeing this picture made me think, God really had a field day creating this world of ours;)

I really like the background texture you used! It seems sort of home-y and rustic, which is an interesting juxtaposition against the exotic bird of paradise.

You really hit this one out of the park. And the picture captures perfectly the words.

beautifully enigmatic poem -- one does not usually associate the tropical bird of paradise with sheets of ice.

Bird of a non feather kind, indeed. Your words captured night's tragedy well. Very visual poem. Have a nice day.

Thanks for commenting on Old Grizz's site. It is always wonderful to read your comments. I saw your picture and poem early and meant to comment then but did not have time. Your art is beautiful. You have made the flower come alive and I love the orange. I am going to plant one and watch it every night for earthquake warnings.
