Solo
A solitary swan took flight
toward the edge of a dusky night
where a setting sun bled the day
deep into the coastal waterway.
Both the watercolor sketch and the poem were among my first attempts nearly a decade ago when I was beyond everything known and on my way to an unknown phase/chapter.

Lovely drawing - I really enjoy the colors. And lovely poem, too.
The drawing has an Asian tinge The poem feels right
Unknown phases/chapters are scary but necessary I think for a complete life
Solitary swan! Even the title's good.
Scary sometimes to travel solo.
Following one's heart is the best.
You did well.

Unknown phase or not your writing hasn't been affected. This is beautiful writing and watercolor.
A beautiful waterway and beautiful words to go with it!
I'm afraid my artistic skills are sorely lacking, but I can still appreciate talent such as yours. oh, the poem is nice as well.
your poem is the perfect accompaniment to your sketch, beautiful!
a lone journey, but perhaps sometimes it's necessary to travel by oneself
I think the beginning is always the hardest but you do learn a lot from failed attempts and mistakes
thanks for sharing. love both of them.
Wonderful watercolour! Solitary swans are sad because they have either lost their partner or not found one. They always stay together. Thanks for sharing and visiting.
Your watercolour and your poem are full of
sensibility...
Thanks for visiting my blog .
The watercolour is gorgeous! I can't believe that was a first attempt!
The poem reminds me of Betjeman, one of my favourite poets.
loved the Solo !!
I know I left a comment on this one, but I don't see it!
I said how much I liked your watercolour. It really doesn't look like a 'first attempt'! It's very lovely.
And also, your poem reminds me of John Betjeman!
A wonderful poem for a wonderful Sketch!!!!
If that was a first attempt...!
A thought out comcombination.
What an amazing beginning! I can see why you have continued to follow this path.
I love this. But then again, I always love what you do! : )
ten years ago.. and fresh as a daisy today!!! love the water color.
Very pretty!!!
Beautiful water colour and poem. And I liked reading about your left to right brain transformation - really interesting!
They are beautiful! I don't think anyone would have guessed that they were first attempts :D
The sun bleeding the day into the waterway is such a perfect description..
