Poem for Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings offers the prompt: I'd like to hear your take on being disconnected.

Disconnection

skip and thump
the creep of time

protective shield
altered in a blink

that mantle drapes
too soon on her

no bright markers
lead the way

the path is clean
the map is gone like

footprints scrubbed
from sand by tides

Orchid Bayou is an original watercolor.

very nice... it seeems to be about age to me, and a disconnection from self... but perhaps im barking up the wrong tree...

seems to be about your mom dying younger than you are now... I have the same thing with my dad... he died when he was 54 and I am now 55 - it's odd, but I'm sure more with your same sex parent - hope you're not feeling mortal!!

Absolutely wonderful, Sue! Indeed impermanence keeps things in a forward flow.

Time does have a way of creeping, and then something comes along and in an instant life is changed. Forever. And then just like that life's gone without a trace.

I love this and what it says about time, change, and the way our path isn't always clear. Very well done!

I thoroughly enjoy your unique way with words: footprints scrubbed
from sand by tides!

By just your words, you always hit me with resounding imagery! This sounds like lamentation of the onset of Alzheimer's. A memory scrubbed clean of sentiment and expectation. Beautiful in it's sadness.

That last stanza was awesome. Like we were never here.

Definitely disconnected yet also... there's some yearning in there. To connect, perhaps?
