Haiku for One Single Impression

One Single Impression prompt 56: Thanks to KiteHorse, who recommends "equals" as this week's prompt. March 20 was the vernal equinox, when day and night were the same length.

***

tender sprouts, testing
sun shines on the equinox
garden deep in ice

***

sameness
measured with a stick
false justice

Fractal created in Sterling.

I like the first one, especially 'garden deep in ice,' but the second one is my favorite. It makes me think of crooked sticks. Very nice!

the contrariness of spring! But like jukota I like the second verse even better.

Sameness can never be measured with the same stick.:) Really nice statement.

The first one is my garden for certain. Spring is trying to battle through, here.

The sameness measured with a stick makes me think of the way kids are evaluated in schools. How's that for out there?

Spring today will bring us 37 degrees. I know that conrariness!

I adore your art work. It is just incredible. Your haiku ain't bad, either!

I can almost here those tender sprouts squeaking, 'testing, testing, one, two, three'.

Strong endorsement from me for the second verse, as well.

I remember being so happy when winter was over, I just couldn't wait to go back to wearing shorts again. Lovely poems, Sue, have a great week!

These are excellent. The first is so visual and the second speaks to the internal compass. Great fractal as well.

That image of a 'garden deep in ice' caught my attention, too. But I'm glad we've tipped the balance and are heading into the warm! Beautiful fractal, too!!

I like the first Haiku, because we all want the garden to thaw, and it seems like the Haiku is more about what we are all waiting for.

Dear Tumblewords--
These are so good!!
I especially like the second one...always remember something that Marlo Thomas wrote in her book for families. It was a story about how the kids were always complaining about the parents not treating them equally, so the parents decided that they would do exactly the same thing for each of them, and it didn't take long for the kids to see that they really wanted their parents to treat them fairly but not all the same!

Not sure why that came up from your poem, but it did!

Thanks, as ever--

Very nice, Sue. When to you plant potatotes? We did it during the first dark moon in March. I think that fits your theory pretty well.
I'd rather measure sameness with a stick than with a spanning hand. :-)
..
I like your fractal. It left me wondering if Sterling is a brand of computer software.

Oh both of these are jewels ..

But I like the second one the best, it put the Rulers out of business.

I like the 'tartan' fractal; and the idea of measuring sameness.

You could be writing about Maine, Sue.

The second verse--so true.

Love them both!

I love how they are both so radically different- but I love them both equally! Thanks for sharing

Oh I know I am late in commenting on this. It's hard to keep up.
It is wonderful as always.
