Horsehead Nebula, courtesy of ESO gallery.
Nebulae have fascinated me for some time - and the Horsehead Nebula feels special for some reason.
The ESO Gallery has a plethora of cosmos information and galleries galore. ESO operates the La Silla Paranal Observatory at two sites in the Atacama desert region of Chile.
And, today (March 10) the NASA Astronomy Photo of the Day offered a gorgeous view of the Horsehead and Orion.
Synchronicity?
As Jack Horkheimer says, 'Keep looking up!'
ABC Wednesday offers a run through the alphabet and its bloggers have some spectacular tales and photos. Thank you, Denise Nesbitt!

Indeed a beautiful nebula.
My favorite nebula - at least for picturesque quality. I had it posted on my bulletin board for a while. One of my early ambitions was to be an astronomer - and nebulae are so interesting as the birthplace of stars in our solar system. Good choice!
awesome. Bet you are the only one with this entry for H!
Fascinating and an beautiful post for the letter H.
Wonderful, how very artistic. I love it!
Great work for H

I look at APOD every day. I was first aquainted with the Horsehead when I was a child and I have never come to terms with the fact that it is such a small area of the overall Orion complex.
Wow, cosmic.. literally! Good post x
thanks for the info !!
How lucky were you for NASA to post the photo in time for this week's ABC Wednesday.

Synchronicity indeed! The NASA photo was amazing. Thanks for turning my eyes to the sky today.
hadn't been on the NASA site for a while but you sent me there about twenty minutes ago and I've only just got back!
Oh wow..My Dad had a telescope and he used to take us kids out to look at stars and the moon. Everyone should get to do that..Thanks for the good memory... Michelle
That's a beautiful image. Just like the Knight from a game of chess.
Good H. I love NASAs photo of the day - usually a guarantee of a WOW moment.
We both chose a "horse" theme. Yours is so beautiful though! Love the colors!
An amazing picture. I have never been to the NASA site, I'm going over there now....bye!
That's one of the few nebulae I know - I've always loved horses, and it is so pretty!
Fantastic! Great "H" choice.
