Leaf for Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings  posts the prompt: Leaf

Ah, I wasn't ready.

I still have old leaves to turn and pages to burn. Life races like a high-speed train through an underground tunnel while I stumble and kick, mutter and grumble.

And, recheck this weary old resolution which makes me wonder which came first - which new avatar for me?

Resolution Re-run

New years by the score have left me in doubt
as what more to leave out. I gave up hard spirits,
tobacco and speeding, soaped out my mouth
and even stopped fibbing. I once gave up slouching
and dating bad men, ran from intolerance to pose on the fence.
I’m not pure lily white but surely modest and mild.
I’ve come full circle, which is rather odd, so this year I resolve
to resume smokes and gin, to step up my pace,
and regain ten pounds while practicing road rage
and lewd finger waves.

A Pleasurable, Prosperous and Peaceful 2010 to You and Yours!

The image is a digital photo of a leave, rendered in negative using Irfanview.

Out with the new, in with the old - sounds like a plan...

The poem was cute & comical.

Honestly, I liked the commentary that was your first two paragraphs more, though. Those words struck me as poetic and beautiful and very true for most of us.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts & work. :)

Happy New Year Tumblewords. I think you have perfectly captured what the New year is really about -continuing things you enjoy. Jae.

With those kinds of resolutions, you should enjoy 2010! Great take on the prompt.

Boy, do I agree with your sentiments! In our act of attaining "perfection", we become dull automatons, without joy or spontaneity. Her's to booze and bad language!
Happy New Year to you!

Ah, a refreshing take on the tired old New Year's resolutions. Much more inspiring than the usual (and so much easier, too!). ;-)

If I ever make it up to Idaho, I'm looking you up :) think two wannabe bad girls could party together? Loved it..

you've got me chuckling & chucking my resolution list (at least a mental erase since it did not make it on paper this year)...Love, love the poem...and the title...and your talent.
The leaf is beautifully done too.
