Sunday Scribblings posts the prompt: Leaf
Ah, I wasn't ready.
I still have old leaves to turn and pages to burn. Life races like a high-speed train through an underground tunnel while I stumble and kick, mutter and grumble.
And, recheck this weary old resolution which makes me wonder which came first - which new avatar for me?
Resolution Re-run
New years by the score have left me in doubt
as what more to leave out. I gave up hard spirits,
tobacco and speeding, soaped out my mouth
and even stopped fibbing. I once gave up slouching
and dating bad men, ran from intolerance to pose on the fence.
I’m not pure lily white but surely modest and mild.
I’ve come full circle, which is rather odd, so this year I resolve
to resume smokes and gin, to step up my pace,
and regain ten pounds while practicing road rage
and lewd finger waves.
A Pleasurable, Prosperous and Peaceful 2010 to You and Yours!

i love the humor! but i like the way you think :) coming full circle to bad habits.. i think resolutions are silly
Sounds far more fun to me! I'm with you all the way!
Hooray for gin! LOL
What part of Idaho are you in? I spent a month in Coeur d'Alene last summer! LOVE ME SOME IDAHO
Out with the new, in with the old - sounds like a plan...
The poem was cute & comical.
Honestly, I liked the commentary that was your first two paragraphs more, though. Those words struck me as poetic and beautiful and very true for most of us.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts & work. :)
This made me smile. Love the humor. Coming full circle. Hope you have a great 2010, Tumblewords.
Imagine peace.
How fun! I love your twist.
haha love your funny side!
happy new year to u too!
A high chance of success then!
Happy New Year Tumblewords. I think you have perfectly captured what the New year is really about -continuing things you enjoy. Jae.
With those kinds of resolutions, you should enjoy 2010! Great take on the prompt.
Boy, do I agree with your sentiments! In our act of attaining "perfection", we become dull automatons, without joy or spontaneity. Her's to booze and bad language!
Happy New Year to you!
Laughing...sounds like a resolution even I could keep.
You are so very much my kind of woman!
Ah, a refreshing take on the tired old New Year's resolutions. Much more inspiring than the usual (and so much easier, too!). ;-)
What a great resolution! Where did being good little girls get us?
If I ever make it up to Idaho, I'm looking you up :) think two wannabe bad girls could party together? Loved it..
you've got me chuckling & chucking my resolution list (at least a mental erase since it did not make it on paper this year)...Love, love the poem...and the title...and your talent.
The leaf is beautifully done too.
