Each year, my small family notes that things are different. And, indeed they are. My always there parents have passed and other family members have gone on as well.
And each year, a tradition fades away in the scent of cedar boughs and cinnamon. Each year there are new people to fill empty chairs and each year a favorite dish is added by a new cook.
Each year, other traditions are established. And when the following season appears, it is again noted that things just aren't the same.
Each season is, in its own way, different but gratitude remains a constant.
I wish each of you all possible good!

Well said! we live in an ever changing world. May I wish you all you wish yourself in this special season
A wonderful post! It's true - everything changes and still we can find the good in it. Love the fractal!
Sometimes the changes are subtle, and sometimes they are monumental. We are going through big changes this year as well having lost both of my husband's parents last summer. Their spirits are not too far away, just like my grandmother who seems to have been with me all day today as I finished decorating the house, which included some of her own decorations.
Our traditions have continuity because they are grounded in gratitude.....and yet they seem different every year.
Merry Christmas Sue. May the love and belonging of friends and family shower your Christmas table with song and hope.

Traditions are so much part of our celebrations. I loved you post.
seasons of eternity
Beautifully said. The holidays are a time to spend with loved ones, which can make it difficult when the ones closest to us are only there in spirit. It is good to embrace new traditions while honoring ones ones as well.
As long as their are people who gather together in the spirit of of giving, of kindness, of sharing, of reunions, of love the traditon lives on. This is the gift we got from our ancestors and the gift we could give the next generattions to come.
Here's my thoughts this season:

Wise words. My favorite line was: "Each season is, in its own way, different but gratitude remains a constant." It seems like we so often let our expectations run away with us, instead of embracing what is different but remarkable with each holiday season. You did such a lovely job of articulating that here. Thank you!
yep, change is inevitable.. it is how easy we are able to adapt that determines how comfy our lives will be..
well expressed~~:)
here's to happy days ahead
