I came upon a highway sign,
deep within the desert
in terrain of sand and dry.
Proclaimed it: 'Coyote Wash'.
Who puts the quarters in,
sprays on soap and turtle wax?
Who checks to see, behind the ears,
if all is clean and rightly dried?

so bright and playful!!!! i loved it!!!!
Yes, playful's the word (love the behind the ears line) and a lovely piece of accompanying art.
What fun! And the last line is just perfect - I loved "rightly dried." Love the whole thing! :)
HA! I love it.
Nicely paced. Made me think of the three little pigs (don't ask me why). Water-colour painting fits right in, too.
Precisely the kind of questions one would ask in such bizarre circumstances. Neat & clever.
A little gem! Brightened up my day.
So that's what goes on deep in the desert!
Nicely done.
You made my day!

You just gotta love our language! This tickled my funny bone!
Sue, this is just wonderful. It fit's the prompt and your little water color is beautiful. You must tell me how you added it at the end of your poem. I am such a dummy but I love to both write draw and paint.

I loved this on Huckleberries. We saw a coyote on our winter drive today.... not a car wash in sight!!
very sweet!
