Into the Dusk for Magpie Tales

Magpie Tales #36 - the image prompt by Willow.

Into the Dusk

geese stitch
the falling dusk
to leaves of quilts

summer birds craft
sweet clear sounds
of southbound song

pressing into cooling air
she hums refrain...the
melody of Persephone

This brings out the melancholy longing which each fall brings; hearing the geese fly overhead. Lovely.

Thank goodness I read these lovely words twice! First time I read 'geese stitch the falling duck'! Funny image. Sorry, still laughing at my own stupidity!

Made much more sense after I learned Persephone was the goddess of the harvest! :)

A true magpie tale. Delightful. I am late responding but that's because I have been traveling!

I quilted long ago and your first words made me want to reach for fabric and begin piecing it together--you captured the feeling of fall which I have always seen as a beginning--great magpie!

I can hear the "sweet clear sounds" of the "melody of Persephone"

Lovely lyrical, autumn calling the birds last song before going south,

simply divine...

I don't know how you do it every single time but you do. The geese stitching. I can't get over how good that is. Magnificent!

I'm too french to know what a Persephone is, but I like the sound of it. And I loved "the falling dusk to leaves of quilts"

Very nice!
