Others for BigTent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry offers this prompt: Write a poem in a different style than you normally write. Visit the link to see what others wrote!

OTHERS

scattered pearls
like tarnished silver
mark the trail

gems gone astray
dust-pocked by rain pellets
drowned in swift storms

the familiar fell away
from thinning strands
left nothing safe

who could guess
how long forever lasts

I wouldn't mind sticking around to find out.

It's always beneficial to extend and change one's style, I find it keeps the writing fresh. And plus, there's nothing better than a challenge. I love your writing style here, it works very well - the poem is marvellous :)

Well done! It's not easy to write fluently in a style you might not normally choose - you have succeeded admirably :-)

Great use of metaphor. And brevity assures that every word counts.

love the sounds here: I can hear the rain hit and the water run across the land

Yes, I liked it very much! Thank you. But to tell the truth, I'm not sure I have a style, and would find it difficult to write in another style? Perhaps I haven't been writing long enough?

Walt Whitman tells us how important it is to honor the Other I Am. Your poem resonates with that reality. Thank you.

I was intrigued that you said "Visit the link to see what others wrote!" and then called you poem 'Others'. So now, I'm thinking of myself as one of the "scattered pearls"! Lovely poem.

I think if this is what happens when you break the mold, you should do it more often. :D

Such a beautiful, vivid image. It's the kind that my mind wanders over and back again.
