Stitching
fat quarters, quilts and queries
fabric fused by tape
pinked by promise
survival stitched with silken threads
tapestry refreshed in double lines
mending holes and darning wholes
and still the raveling warps
she seams around the inside edges
to avoid tear-tracked endings
fat quarters and family's age old queries

Hmmmm,
I see you are very comfortable with poetry!
It's a new medium for me...
I must visit here more often.
I love sewing, and I love poetry and you have managed to bring the two together seamlessly ;) I really enjoyed your use of holes/wholes and thought this was a lovely poem.
A lot of sound to this poem when read aloud. Liked 'pinked by promise', I'd forgotten about pinking shears.
Terrific poem... stitching the unraveling..and then it starts all over again!! Life!!!
Thanks for your comment. And I thought your study in watercolor and your poem was very beautiful!
nice a fresh approach to the prompt...i like it...some days i feel unraveled...
The last line becomes a re-invention of the first - like another metaphorical perspective! And loved the echo of "holes and "wholes"! A fascinating poem!
Such a refreshing Magpie. Thanks! :)
Sue,
I admire the patience of quilters; a lot like poets who take the time to put the little touches to a piece that make it stand out.
I'm so glad we all don't see things the same always. ;)
Dear Tumblewords: I love this quilt- poem Art. How do you do this? Amazing! You definitely know the stitch lingo so I think you "know from stitchin'"! Truly admire your amazing talent and stitch word poem! Reminds me of a bit of red twist too! The Tailor of Gloucester by Beatrix Potter Very Creative mag!
