I've never met a board or card game I didn't like but game-playing people go against my grain. You know the type. The type that rattled Lucy. Where do they come from? Those with the self-determined solutions for un-asked questions?
My current favorite games are Quiddler, Domino Trains, Scrabble and, if I can win one time, I might like a bit of chess even though it's almost too slow for me. I'm in a hurry. And not much good at strategizing.
Truly, I'm there for the giggles. Last summer I was teaching a little kid to play SlapJack and found a lot more laughs and slaps with a double deck of pinochle cards instead of the standard deck.

There for giggles isn't that what life should be all about?
Lovely post. Thanks for making me smile.
Peace,

I am happy for the joy you find from playing games. I always have found them frustrating. Guess I'm not good at planning ahead and strategizing! And I distinctly remember playing monopoly with my sister as a kid. She would always be the banker and somehow end up with all the money from the bank....go figure!
Yes, being a sport is what life is about!
Love it! Slapjack used to be so fun. Old Maid. Rummy. Samba. I wrote about game shows!
Our families have always been great game players. I am sure it was inbred as even our grandparents on both sides loved to get the cards and board games out.
Lets hope all our genes continue down the line!
I don't know many of the games you mentioned I do know domino and scrabble and chess of course but I suck at it. My son who is severely LD is surprisingly very good at chess. My favourite game in NZ is Skip bo
I haven't played Slapjack in a while. :)
Games are always a big hit around here..... lately Balderdash has returned to the forefront.
I'm with you too....can't quite understand the folks who thrive rattling you with their comments.
Ah I remember slap Jack playing as a small child. It brought laughs to, just like playing games with my grandchildren brings laughs today. You're right. It's all about the giggles.
You've made me want to look up some of these games. Absolutely chess is slow! Takes a particular type of mind (that of a ten year old boy perhaps who can imagine the 'battle' in his head?)Jae
i love scrabble and have picked up quite a lot of card games...others you mentioned are new to me. Its fun playing these though....
I know none of the games you mentioned and I bet you think I am out dated and out of the time zone :(
there is nothing as fun as friends and family sitting around a table playing games and joking. I love it when my kids show up for the holiays with the latest games. they always win and I always have fun
Nice post that brings back memories of playing SlapJack (I haven't thought of that one in years). You might like Lexulous, an online Scrabble game for those times you can't play with the kids. You brought a smile to my face.
I'm a boggle and banana gram fan but find Scrabble and Gin Rummy fun too.
Here from Sunday Scribbling but my favorite little bit here was this : he re-creates the heat
of summer in a jelly jar
I agree about game playing people AND people who decide after a few short moments with you that they know exactly how to "fix" you.
Nice work, interesting ideas about this fruit.
