Halomancy is an ancient form of divination using salt. In one method, the diviner casts salt crystals into the air and interprets the patterns as it falls to the ground or travels through the air.
Himalayan salt lamps (WBM 8-Inch Himalayan Natural Crystal Salt Lamp with Bulb and Cord) work as air purifiers by emitting negative ions into the air and light therapy to reduce stress and increase energy. My daughter gave me one that provides a special light and wonderful vibes.
My cooking granddaughter hooked me up to this site to study astonishing forms of salts and Himalayan salt blocks that are used in cooking: http://www.atthemeadow.com/shop/Gourmet-Sea-Salt Hardly anything I'd use with my limited culinary skills but it stirs my head.
Did you notice this post began with H and rapidly turned to Salt?

Yes!! Happy energy! Something we can all use a lot of! I always learn something interesting when I visit your blog! Something that I either didn't know about at all or that I knew very little! Have a Happy H Day!!

Fascinating post. I didn't know about this.
Delightful and "happy" post. I never heard of that kind of lamp before.
I think you are the salt of the earth!
That was interesting and learnt about Halomancy and Himalayan salt Lamps!!
Salt reminded me of this...
Here, a pinch of salt is Held in the Hand and circled around the Head of a person to ward off evil eyes!! This is then thrown outside the House!!
The change in letter is easily forgiven :-)
Enjoyed that.
Wish that your salt shakes in the right direction.

Hard to imagine the number of interests, notions and beliefs in the world. This was new to me. I've heard of throwing a bit of salt over the shoulder... ;-)
Have a great week.
Great choice for letter H. That's a pretty good bit of information you shared us. I am now your follower.
Have a peek on my letter H, see you.
I didn't know salt came in so many shades and shapes. I would leave some salt out of meal to be able to conjure some of those salts on the table.
I could use one of those Himalayan salt lamps - maybe it would work wonders during the grey days of winter. :D

I always wondered what those lamps were in the health food store!

Some fascinating snippets of information. I enjoyed your post. Not sure whether my cooking skills would be up to using salt blocks either :)
Yes, Happy Energy.... not so for Lot's wife....know what I mean??
I was thinking of tossing salt over ones shoulder for luck.
Interesting post.
Very interesting, and anything to do with Happy Energy is most welcome around here! Thank you for introducing us to Halomancy. So much to learn!
wow, empowering thoughts.
lol...Thanks for the great info. Happy ABC Wed.
Mine is @ Mom's Place
I saw some salt lamps when I went to crystal mountain. I will see if I can see the photo and link it to you as it didn't occur to me to post it for letter H. Thanks.
Cool stuff!

I think everyone needs a salt lamp! Removing negative ions, reduce stress and increase energy is exactly what I need this time of year. Sooooo tired of winter.
I'm thinking most TV pundits probably engage in a little Halomancy back stage before pontificating on camera.
You always seem to unearth the most fascinating yet obscure words! I love it!
I always wanted to get one of those salt lamps and now the urge is even greater.
But, I also wonder if the Himalayan salt being mined is to the point of over-mining?
We can see this kind of red color salt block more often now. It was said that do not grind it to fine. When added onto the steak, the little granules crushed by the teeth, bust out amazing flavor.
Those salt lamps are very beautiful! My daughter has one and the light is very soft.
great post!
thanks for the new word -- halomancy! We have a salt lamp; not quite sure what it is doing for us other than providing a beautiful light in the dark.

I didn't know about this about salt and salt lamps, how interesting!!
H is silent...
Interesting
Say Hi to my Horse, my entry for H.
Had never heard of Halomancy - you learn something new every day!
Oh, I've seen these but have been too timid to show my ignorance and ask the clerk what they are.
Nice choice, I guess that makes you the salt of the earth :O)
Hmmm, three new things I must learn more about. Thank you. :-)
I suppose halomancy is as accurate as reading tea-leaves. Fascinating though - is there a limit to how far the salt can be flung?
The Himalayan salt lamps sound intriguing.
Most interesting post:-)
Thanks for posting these Hs today. I need the vocabulary lesson. :-)
We had one home too though I never knew the study is called Halomancy. It is nice to have one :)
