mirrors and windows
low-slung eaves
bait the southbound sun
cold seeks out cracks
jack frost lichen
etches kitchen glass
shifting times bring
a hunt for oddball hints
to hold a patch of warm
fresh bubblewrap
clings to windows
creates an abstract light
prevents a frigid cup
of air from inbound creep
beneath the low-slung eaves

Susan,
I love your description of the windows. Lovely piece.

You appear to have written a love song to your house.
Your Magpie was equally beautiful.
Beautiful. Really beautiful. I'm bringing my blanket and pillow.
Wonderful way to look into, on, around and through windows.

I could feel the chill. Beautifully written poem.

Hopefully, the house will win! I can feel the cold creeping in already!
You've evoked palpable feelings about the windows.
Very creative and vivid... I love it...especially the bubble wrap!
Definitely would not want a chill make its way through the cracks in such a warm home!
Great poem! I am fascinated that many of the poems are dealing with windows and breezes and yours is particularly interesting. I really enjoyed it.
I love the line "jack frost lichen/etches kitchen glass". Wonderful images!
I can almost feel the cold!
jack frost lichen-etches kitchen glass what great lines this made the whole poem!
I agree with Amanda! Stay warm!
brrrrr... I was right there with you!
love the last stanza...beautiful.
While some of us use only plastic wrap, the artist goes for more. Fantastic!
A beautiful assembly of words.
What an interesting prompt! And what a gorgeous poem you have made from it. I suspect it couldn't have been made any other way - which to my mind is the acid test of a good prompt. Lovely response.
You've set a cooool atmosphere with every line. Wonderful, evocative words.
